Restarting Pilot Light On Water Heater. Typically, this will be under the gas valve. Keep holding down the pilot knob or button for at least a minute after the flame ignites.

Activate the striker or hold a lighted match next to the pilot port until the pilot flame lights. As you’re holding down the knob, light the pilot light. Gently turn the gas knob to the “pilot” setting and hold it down.
